Disa Allsopp exhibits in New York with Melee the Show

We are busily preparing for Disa’s exhibition in August with Melee the Show, her second appearance at this glamorous trade-only show. Held at the Highline Hotel in buzzy Chelsea, New York, it is a must for anyone looking to find unique high end jewellery from independent makers.

Disa is working on luxurious gold necklaces and earrings to add to her collection, as well as building up her gemstone ring selection. The gemstone 18k gold rings are a favourite for collectors of Disa’s work so she is constantly on the look out for interesting colours and cuts. After her event two weeks ago for London Craft Week with Joanna Hardy & Goldsmiths’ Fair (see the last blog post), Disa was even more keen to source some lovely precious and semi precious stones. She is looking forward to sharing these new pieces with the top buyers in New York in August.

To visit the show you must be connected to the Jewellery and Fashion industries. The show runs from 10th -12th August 2019 and you can register to attend here: Melee The Show Registration

Hope to see you there and a happy Bank Holiday to the UK readers!

Disa is looking forward to taking part in an exciting event next week as part of London Craft Week 2019. Home House and Goldsmiths’ Fair present jewellery expert Joanna Hardy in conversation with Disa Allsopp and Julia Lloyd George.

Joanna Hardy will share her insights gleaned from working with the world’s most distinguished gemologists and creative jewellers. Joanna will interview Disa and Julia, jewellers known for their use of coloured gemstones. Both Disa and Julia have developed signature styles that feature gemstones, yet in completely different ways. Joanna explores their unique approach to gemstones, their inspiration and experience in what promises to be a lively discussion sparkling with insights. Followed by a fine jewellery handling session.

For more information about booking your space on the event please visit the London Craft Week event page.

We have begun adding some stunning new rings to Disa’s online shop. With the Spaghetti rings doing so well Disa thought it about time to add the fresh gemstone 18k gold rings to the Shop too!

They differ to the Spaghetti rings in that the gemstone rings are one off pieces so once they are gone they are gone! Disa can resize to your specifications so when ordering, select your finger size and she will do the rest.

Pictured is a stunning blue tourmaline baguette, 18k gold organic texture ring. The baguette cut is on trend and means you can look in to the stone and see all its unique inclusions that make it a one off piece. Disa’s signature melted, organic texture creates a warm contrast of colour and adds tactility.

Any questions do get in touch by emailing disa.allsopp@gmail.com or through the Contact page.

Disa Allsopp has always travelled a lot, growing up in Barbados with adventurous parents. She visits Kenya on a regular basis as inspiration and sourcing expeditions. This winter she visited one of her suppliers with direct links to the mine where this cabouchon ruby was discovered and cut.

This deep pink ruby is set simply in an 18k yellow gold rub-over setting with an open back to allow as much light play as possible. Poised on one of Disa’s signature organic texture bands this ring is all about show casing this unique stone in all its glory.

Enjoy the warmth and depth of colour as we head in to this fresh March weekend! To find out more about it email disa.allsopp@gmail.com or get in touch through the contact page.

When Disa saw this Rhodolite Garnet on a stone sourcing trip to Kenya she fell in love with its warm flashes of raspberry, fuschia and scarlet. Beautifully cut to reflect and refract light, Disa has framed it in a tapered 18k yellow gold rubover setting. Sitting on one of her signature organic texture 18k gold bands this ring would make a fabulous engagement ring, or a meaningful gift for an anniversary or birthday.

Disa has been working with the online shopping experience 1st Dibs for a year now. 1st Dibs showcases high end design and provides a platform for independent designers and boutiques around the world. Have a look at the site if in need of anything from furniture to fashion.

We have put the new 18k gold rhodolite garnet ring on Disa’s 1st Dibs store and invite you to view the stunning images and imagine yourself wearing this one off piece. It really is a unique stone and we can’t wait to send it to it’s new home!

Dover Street Market London have been a long time supporter of Disa Allsopp’s jewellery. A beautiful concept store in Central London, DSM London is a destination spot for high end shopping. Disa first started stocking them a few years ago. They began with a selection of the Diamond Spaghetti Rings in combinations of 18k gold and oxidised silver.

As trends have developed, Dover Street Markets’ current focus is on Disa’s colourful gemstone rings. Disa is known for her use of colour through gemstones and has a trained eye in selecting unique and eye-catching precious and semi-precious stones. This year she has sourced some stunning tourmalines, beryls and garnets, amongst others.

DSM London have now added Disa Allsopp’s jewellery to their online shop. Work seems to move fast so to view the collection visit: DSM London

Since first appearing in Dover Street Market London, Disa now also stocks DSM NY and the newly launched DSM LA.

Commissioning an item of jewellery can be a daunting process, either if starting out from scratch or reworking a pre-loved piece. Not so a commission by Disa Allsopp!

Disa has years of experience working with clients to create a piece unique them. The process most often begins with a visit to Disa in her London studio to discuss the options. Often, from looking at her current collections, a decision can be made about the design in this initial meeting.

If more time is needed to develop the design, this is the point measurements are taken, ideas are discussed and from there Disa can source stones, create mock ups, sketch out ideas, whatever is needed to move the process on.

Testimonials from past clients describe commissioning bespoke work from Disa as ‘revitalisation by a brilliant designer’, and creating work that becomes ‘unquestionably my favourite piece of jewellery’.

If you have an idea that you would like to discuss with Disa, get in touch either through our contact page or by emailing disa.allsopp@gmail.com

Below a recent commissioned piece, 18k yellow reticulated gold, with three aquamarines flush set in to the chunky band. Disa loved making this piece, saying ‘The textures in this ring frame the watery aquamarines beautifully. The client just loved it, and I enjoyed working on such a substantial ring.’

I will be showing new collections at The Melee Show 2nd- 4th February at The Highline Hotel New York.

18k gold rings, earrings, necklaces using gemstones such as Tourmalines, Garnets, coloured diamonds and many more.

These pieces are all handmade in my London studio!

Looking forward to the show….

Here at Disa Allsopp’s workshop we would like to wish everyone a warm and bejewelled festive season!

The workshop will be closed from Wednesday 19th December to Wednesday 2nd January. We will respond to all enquiries once we are back.

Happy Holidays!
